Biography
Jim Heise, Public Affairs and Code Specialist for PGT Industries, has become recognized as an authority in the window and glass industries. He has served in several capacities at PGT Industries; including a Trainer at PGTU (a Corporate Distributor Educator Center), Field Specialist to aid in both product and installation issues, and now as Public Affairs / Code Specialist, as well as the Manager of the Corporate Education Center know as PGT
University. He is currently a member of the American Architects and Manufacturing Association (AAMA) Technical Committee, the International Code Council (ICC), the Coastal Code Enforcement Association of South Carolina (CCEA), the North Carolina
Building Inspectors’ Association (NCBIA), the Building Officials Association of Louisiana (BOAL), the Building Officials Association of Texas (BOAT), the Building Officials Association of Florida (BOAF), serves as a board member with International Hurricane Protection Association (IHPA), and serves as Treasurer, board member and Code Committee Chairperson for the Fenestration Manufacturers Association (FMA). As an active member of BOAF, he travels across Florida attending meetings as a representative of PGT as well as the fenestration industry.
In his role as Trainer, Field Specialist and Code Specialist, he brings his past years of knowledge of the Florida Construction Industry; stemming back to the 1980’s when he received a Florida State Certified Contractor License. Prior to joining PGT in June of 2006, he spent the previous 10 years traveling the United States as a National Trainer. His construction experience along with his training experience combines to make him a qualified person in his position.
Heise regularly gives educational seminars and classes related to code education, product knowledge, installation and service of all the products PGT manufactures. These classes are given to architects, engineers, contractors, building inspectors, and installers. Several
of his classes are certified for continuing education credits by the American Architects Association (AIA), the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation, as well as the Florida Construction Industry Licensing Board (CILB).
